This album showcases Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble’s blistering gig at the King’s Head Inn, in Norfolk, Virginia, on 22 July 1980.

At the time of this performance, Stevie Ray Vaughan had yet to release any records under his own name. He did however possess a rock-solid grounding as a live performer. Up until the late 1970’s, Vaughan honed his skills with a series of local acts in Dallas and latterly Austin. Stevie Ray then formed his own five-piece, Double Trouble. By the time of this show the group had been whittled down to a power trio with Stevie Ray on guitar and vocals, bassist Jackie Newhouse and drummer Chris Layton.

Featured here, are two Stevie Ray Vaughan compositions, in the shape of Love Struck Baby and I’m Cryin’ – both of which would later appear on Vaughan’s first album, Texas Flood, released in 1983. The other numbers are drawn from the catalogues of Stevie’s heroes, such as Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Howlin’ Wolf et al.
