Launched to promote their second studio album, Rio, which was released on 10 May 1982, the Rio Tour took Duran Duran across the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and the United States, launching them into global superstardom and cementing their status as leaders of the New Romantic movement.

The band’s three consecutive nights at the Hammersmith Odeon, on 14, 15 and 16 November 1982, represented a landmark homecoming, capping a year of international breakthroughs. The venue hosted packed audiences each night, underscoring the band’s surging popularity in the UK.
