This double album presents the Bee Gees’ historic, sold-out concert at Festival Hall in Melbourne, Australia, on 15 July 1971, in its entirety.
This milestone gig was a major highlight of the Bee Gees’ 2 Years On Tour. It marked the group’s first return tour to Australia since leaving for global fame in England nearly five years prior. Backed by a full sixteen-piece orchestra, the brothers delivered a performance that was recorded for simultaneous radio broadcast and a black-and-white ABC TV special. It is widely celebrated by fans as one of their finest live sets of the early 1970s.
The set showcased the Bee Gees’ early pop-rock era songwriting before their later transition to disco. Featured tracks include classics such as To Love Somebody, Massachusetts, I Started a Joke, New York Mining Disaster 1941, Words, I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You and many more.
