Uriah Heep's first live album, Uriah Heep Live was released as a double album in April 1973 in the US, and in May 1973 in the UK. The album was recorded by the Pye Mobile Unit, with Alan Perkins as engineer.

This magnificent double album was one of the great double live albums which graced the UK record scene in the early 1970s. Its 1973… 'Friday Night in Birmingham…' says the late great David Byron followed by the immortal announcer intro… 'Ladies and Gentleman would you welcome please England's own Uriah Heep!'. Then it's into Sunrise live and ecstasy of brilliant gothic music.

Uriah Heep Live was certified gold by the RIAA on 12 October 1973; it was the band’s third US gold album.
