Bowie - The Collaborator: The Legendary Broadcasts
Disc 1 is the best of the legendary US broadcast entitled The 1980 Floor Show which was actually produced in 1974. This cabaret styled performance was designed to be a promotional tool to help push Pin Ups in the American market and marked Bowie’s last ever performance in the Ziggy persona. Notable collaborators include Marianne Faithfull, Trevor Bolder and Mick Ronson.
Disc 2 is the live broadcast of the last night of The Isolar II World Tour from the NHK hall in Japan on 12th December 1978. Collaborators included Adrian Belew who would later join King Crimson and, more surprisingly, the violinist Simon House who had formerly played in Hawkwind.
Disc 3 features the highlights from Bowie’s collaboration with Nine Inch Nails, one of the bands heavily influenced by Bowie’s trilogy of Berlin albums. On Bowie’s 1. Outside album tour NIN opened the shows and were then joined by Bowie for a brief combined set before Bowie and his band closed the show. This show, from St Louis on 11th October 1995, was broadcast live by local FM radio.
Disc 4 is the stunning bonus disc which features rare TV and Radio broadcasts with notable collaborators from Cher to Iggy and provides the perfect showcase demonstrating Bowie’s determination to constantly move forward with new collaborators.
